Who needs to attend?

All trainee solicitors.

What does the course consist of?

The course consists of 3 Core Modules plus Electives.

Core Modules

  • Client Care & Professional Standards 2 days
  • Advocacy & Communication Skills 3 days
  • Financial & Business Skills 3 days & 1½ hour exam

Electives: 24 hours

Trainees may choose from a range of Electives, of which no more that 12 hours may be distance learning. Electives may be completed at any time during the training contract, usually, but not necessarily, after completion of the Core Modules.

How is the course run?

There are 2 types of course:

  • Normal Course: Trainees attend the 8 days of face to face tuition over a number of months, interspersed with periods of normal work in the office.
  • Fast Track Course: The Core modules are covered in 8 consecutive days.
