Training Vision

The TSG Training Vision

Trainee solicitors must be paid at least a minimum salary, gauged against the cost of living.  If this is not in place the profession will become even more inaccessible.  Trainees should not be sliding further into debt during their training contracts.

Trainee solicitors should have access to the best possible training at the most competitive prices possible.

Equality and diversity should be ensured by promoting new and innovative ways to qualify, recognising that full-time training excludes some candidates.

There should be a choice of course providers offering high quality and affordable teaching.

The standard of courses offered should be comparable at every institution and provide value for money.

Supervision during work-based learning should be monitored and of a consistently high standard across the country.

Work-based learning should contain experience of all work situations necessary to ensure adequate and well balanced training.

Upon qualification, solicitors should have received adequate training to be ready for their professional life as a solicitor.
