TSG Local Group: Nottinghamshire & DerbyshireFounded in 1867 the Nottinghamshire Trainee Solicitors' Group hosts an excellent selection of social, sporting and academic events.
Nottingham has a strong reputation as a party city and we aim to live up to that with regular socials where you can relax with colleagues and build friendships with members of other firms. Although our name suggests otherwise -our membership stretches wider than trainees - it includes many newly qualified solicitors, paralegals and legal executives. Although most of our events take place in Nottingham we have a number of members from Derby and Leicester who travel across for our events. Everyone is welcome and in the end what links our members is that they're outgoing and interested in making friends within Nottinghamshire's legal community.  Naturally we want our members to succeed in their careers and therefore we organise regular academic events. These range from presentations from recruitment agencies offering careers advice to our annual Hammond Cup advocacy competition with a first prize of £250.
Our sporting events are always popular. The highlight of our sporting calendar is the annual mixed five a side football competition. We are also looking into hosting a yearly rounders tournament over the summer months.
Our biggest event of the year is our Christmas Ball, which this year will be taking place on Friday 9 December 2005. For this event, there is always a high demand for tickets. For this reason we offer our members the first chance to purchase Christmas Ball tickets.
There are manifold benefits to becoming a members of the Nottinghamshire Trainee Solicitors Group and this is why we currently have over 150 members. Membership is as little as £22 a year and this gives you access to our social, sporting and academic events. From September 2005 it will also offer you the opportunity to make the most of our corporate discounts.
Our other means of bringing you consistently strong events is through sponsorship of our socials. Each year we agree to promote businesses which we feel our members would be interested in hearing more about.
