FINANCIAL MATTERS

Perhaps one of the most difficult hurdles to overcome to qualify as a solicitor is debt and financial hardship.  This is a problem which faces all of us, and is something that shows no sign of disappearing.

Student and Trainee Debt is an issue which the TSG lobbies and campaigns on - please see the Policy page on Debt on this website.  We continue to represent the view that the currennt cost of training and the debt which trainees face coming out of their education is one of the biggest barriers to entry into the profession.

The next pages are designed to give the low-down on the current financial issues facing the TSG membership.  The problems are outlined, along with some potential solutions.

All in all, the debt is a problem that we should attempt to overcome.  However, to get through the problems and succeed at the goal of qualification shows commitment and dedication - two very important qualities in a lawyer.
