As a company limited by guarantee, the TSG has an Annual General Meeting ("AGM"). This meeting is the formal meeting when the Accounts are approved, the Annual Report is agreed, any constitutional amendments are made and, most importantly, the TSG executive committee are elected.
The TSG executive act as the Board of Directors for the Group. You can find out more on the structure of the Group if you visit in the "About Us" section of the website.
The TSG executive committee hold office for one year. They are voted in by the National Committee (made up of local group representatives) at the AGM. This year, the AGM will be held on Saturday 18 November 2006 at the Law Society, London.

PLEASE REMEMBER - TSG executive positions are both challenging and rewarding. HOWEVER you are a director of a company, and as such will have certain fiduciary duties. You must devote a lot of personal time and effort to the Group. You must give up a lot of weekends per annum, and also have the support and backing of your firm.
Please see the individual job descriptions to find out how much time commitment is required of each role. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING TO BE TAKEN LIGHTLY, and requires dedication and interest to maintain.

TRAINEE SOLICITORS GROUP ELECTION CALL 2006
Could you represent over 47,000 students, trainee solicitors and newly qualified solicitors from across England and Wales in a national and international forum?
Are you committed to protecting and promoting the interests of this sector of the profession?
If so, why not consider standing for a position on the executive committee of the Trainee Solicitors Group (TSG) - at the TSG AGM on Saturday 18 November 2006 in London.

You must be a member of the TSG (i.e. a registered Law Society student studying for the GDL, CPE, or on the LPC or working as a paralegal; a trainee solicitor; or a newly qualified solicitor no more than one year qualified as of 18 November 2006 – the date of the AGM and when the elections will be held).
Nominations, which must be supported by two other TSG members, have to be submitted by 10.00am on Monday 13 November 2006 on the prescribed form.

This should include an election statement of up to 1,000 words explaining why YOU are right for the role.
The elections will be held on Saturday 18 November 2006 at the Law Society in London.
The election itself takes place at the AGM which all candidates will be required to attend. You will need to present yourself so that you participate in the hazing process - you will be asked questions by the current Executive and the National Committee to determine whether you are right for the position.
You will be elected by representatives from each local TSG group who sit on the national committee.

AGM and Executive Elections
Information for 2006
1. The Trainee Solicitors’ Group AGM 2006, including elections for positions on the executive committee, will be held on:
Saturday 18 November 2006
2.30pm – 5.00pm (approximately)
The Law Society, 113 Chancery Lane, London WC2A 1PL
2. Anyone standing for a position is strongly advised to attend the AGM.
3. Those eligible to stand for election are:
* Students - those studying for the Common Professional Examination, Graduate Diploma in Law or on the Legal Practice Course
* Law Society registered students including those working as paralegals
* Trainee solicitors
* Newly qualified solicitors (provided no more than one year qualified by Saturday 18 November 2006 which is the date of the AGM).
4. The deadline for the receipt of nomination forms and election statements is 10.00AM ON MONDAY 13 NOVEMBER 2006.
5. You must be nominated by two other TSG members (as set out at 3 above) and be eligible to be nominated for election at the date of the close of nominations or the closing of any re-nominations.

7. Nomination forms and guidance notes are available from the Returning Officer (see item 6 above) or can be downloaded from the above section, where indicated. Should you wish to withdraw your nomination at any stage, the Returning Officer must be notified in writing, prior to the AGM itself.
