The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award 3 Peaks Challenge

The Duke of Edinburgh Award as part of its Jubilee celebrations are inviting people to sign up to their 3 Peaks Challenge in aid of the Award which will take place in May.

The Award is a voluntary, non-competitive programme of activities for anyone aged between 14 and 25 years old. Since it began over 5 million young people have taken part and had the opportunity to improve leadership skills, develop self-belief, confidence and sense of self-worth.

The Award’s 3 Peaks Challenge will raise money for the Award in order for it to be taken forward and allow it to achieve its vision that “one day, anyone aged 14-25 who wishes to participate in the Award will be able to do so”.

The aim of the 3 Peaks’ Challenge is for teams to climb Ben Nevis, Scafell and Snowden in 24 hours, the three tallest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales. Each team undertaking the challenge with the Award will include 7 walkers and 2 drivers who will transport the walkers between each mountain. Over a period of months the teams will be brought together to plan, set their objectives, monitor their progress both in terms of training and fundraising and organise transport and food during the event. The Award will give support and advice to each team every step of the way.

A number of groups from law firms, including a group of trainees, together with a group of accountants, IT employees and employees of an outdoor retailer have already signed up for the challenge.

A brochure detailing the event can be found in the bottom left hand corner of the page. For further details please contact Adrian Sia Lu or Cat Crimmins both of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award at info@theaward3peaks.org
