TSG Local Group: Birmingham

It is with great sadness that we have to announce that James Viney, a committee member of the Birmingham Trainee Solicitors’ Society, passed away this month. James held the post of ‘Philosophus’ with responsibility for the cultural education of trainees in Birmingham (no mean feat!). James was born and brought up in Birmingham before leaving for Exeter University to study politics. He returned to his roots to undertake the law conversion course and LPC at the University of Birmingham before spending some time travelling the world.

James completed his training at Gateley Wareing and took up a position at Stuart Hodge Corporate Lawyers on qualification, where he was highly regarded by his colleagues and clients.  James’ talents were not limited to the legal profession. He was a gifted actor, appearing in productions for the Birmingham Repertory Theatre and BBC2 and was a keen sportsman.

He will be missed by those who knew him and our thoughts go out to his family, friends, fellow committee members and colleagues.
